WORKSHOP OVERVIEW & DESIGN

The program is designed as two separate workshops to cater for the needs of various participants. The workshop will be conducted in English and designed to be highly interactive. The teaching methods include presentations, discussions, and case study exercises.

  1. Workshop 1: Basic Health Economics Workshop
It is designed for those, new to the field, wishing to appreciate and appraise studies done by others, or requiring a foundation for more advanced study. It will provide attendees with an introduction to the fundamental knowledge of how health economics can guide healthcare decision making as well as to the basic techniques and methods of health economics.
  2. Workshop 2: Decision Modelling for Economic Evaluation
This workshop deals with more advanced methods in cost-effectiveness analysis for health care technologies. In addition to presentations, the workshop includes a series of exercises focusing on evidence synthesis methods, the development and analysis of a decision model, and includes computer-based work.

Prerequisite: Participants are expected to have a grasp of basic concepts of economic evaluations as taught in Workshop 1. Participants are also expected to be familiar with Excel.

Note : STATA software will also be used in some modules during workshop 2.
